Forcoli

Forcoli

Forcoli is a fraction of the town of Palaia in the province of Pisa. The name should come from the old Forcole which was derived from castrum Forcolae. The reference oldest in the history of the country dates back to 1061 when the Marquis of Alberto Obertenghi gave the Abbey of St. Michael of Poggibonsi the small town. In the period from 1141 to 1153 a part of the village passed by the archbishop of Pisa all'arcivescovo of Lucca, and during the 1209 Emperor Otto IV confirmed the domination of the bishop of Lucca on the whole area.
